Dr. Hirofumi Akari is a professor, Center for the Evolutionary Origins of Human Behavior, Kyoto University.
Our laboratory has focused on the cellular and molecular virology, immunology and pathology of the intractable infectious diseases caused by retroviruses (i.e., AIDS and ATL) and hepatitis viruses (Hepatitis B/C viruses) by using non-human primate models. We are also seeking to develop new vaccines and therapeutics aimed at preventing infection and diseases caused by these viruses.
