The summer internship I undergo in Akari Laboratory was one of the most memorable learning experiences of my life. I conducted many new activities and experiments that have developed many of my soft and technical skills. The internship has also opened my eyes to many new possibilities in the scientific field in a professional setting. The lab members were also very welcoming and made me feel comfortable during the internship period. Overall, this experience has been an incredible learning experience for me.

To say that I have learned a lot would be an understatement. Interning at the Laboratory of Infectious Disease Model had been an outstanding experience for me, both educationally and professionally. It gave me a glimpse about the complex processes that goes into research. Despite not having an expertise in such field, my colleague and I were able to conduct our internship smoothly with the guidance, encouragement, and patience of the laboratory members. The constructive feedbacks given by the members during counseling as well as presentations trained my critical thinking. Furthermore, through this internship, my curiosity expanded to a greater extent. If anything my determination to pursue research solidified. Although I only spent two and a half months in here, I have gained a lot of technical and practical knowledge that enhanced my ability to work more effectively in the lab, and for that, I am extremely grateful to be given this opportunity.

The best part about this summer was meeting everyone in the lab, because all of you are very welcoming and have
enriched my learning experience like none other. This was my first time learning about HIV to that depth, so I was very nervous at first, as the techniques you all use were not all
familiar to me. However, based on my readings of papers and articles I knew that your work is up to date and is in high demand right now, which made my experience more thrilling.
Also, it was hard to adjust to living in Japan alone at first, but with the help of everyone, I made it through and thrived.

My time at Akari lab has been splendid! Having my credited internship in this lab was a right decision and instead
of feeling pressured, i feel right at home here. Everyone was super nice and helpful, even though I didn’t speak Japanese fluently, including Akari sensei, who taught lots, including life
lessons and how I should build my self-esteem.he experience in the lab were enjoyable as i get to do hands-on experiments a lot, and those were super fun, as the topic really was in
line with my interest, which is virology.
At this lab, i didnt get only more knowledge and techniques in infectious disease research, but also i get the most valuable thing, friendship, almost like family, if i may say.
Overall, my two months spent at akari lab was worth every day, and the experience will always linger with me for the rest of my life.
